March 17, 2014

This week was great! We had a baptism on Tuesday! the spirit was so strong! and it was a wonderful program! Everything worked out accordingly and it was so great! While she was getting dressed, we had a testimony meeting. It was very powerful. The spirit was very strong. It was a great success.

We met lots of potential investigators this week. We received a referral from the Elders and we went to contact her and she is interested in learning more about religion and what we believe! So we are so excited to start teaching her! And we were in Spring City this past week and we were visiting George F. and George's 2nd cousin and fiancé were there and we talked with them and we are going over to their house this next week and we are going to ask them to take lessons and we are super stoked for that! The Lord is definitely blessing us with new people to teach! God answers prayers! I know that for a fact!

Me, Sister Shurtleff, and Sister Turner are doing great! We had a really good, effective weekly planning this week and we are setting really good goals and new ways to go about teaching and reaching our potential! I just love them. I can't say it enough. I can really see Sister Turner and Shurtleff progressing. They are fantastic missionaries! with such desire to do the Lord's work! They are so great! Such wonderful examples to me!

As for me, I'm just working on becoming a more consecrated missionary.  I've come to know for myself that if we put our trust in the Lord, he WILL take care of us. He will lead and guide us to where we need to be, what we need to say. I've grown in my strength in talking with everyone! And our purpose is simply to invite others to come unto Christ! I love being a missionary! I've felt a happiness that I can't express and I know that I wouldn't be the person I am today, growing into the person that the Lord wants me to be, if I wasn't here on my mission. It has been a tremendous blessing.
Other than that, It was just the usual! haha.

I'm sorry for my short email too! not much happened besides the baptism! It was great! I love you guys and miss you!! have a great week!
Love always,
Sister Burr

March 10, 2014

I'm so glad to hear that you are all doing so well! I love the pictures and I love hearing about everyone! It gives me strength to move forward with my work!

This week was great.  Pat P. is scheduled for baptism this next Tuesday! Which is tomorrow! We are so excited for that! We had a good lesson with her, and as well as a team-up, which is great because we don't get those as often as we would like.  We found more less-active members that we hadn't met before and we are now teaching Megan M. again! She lives with the Beyer’s.  She asked us to teach her the lessons and I was quite shocked honestly.  We had prayed so hard for new investigators and to have the strength to talk to everyone and find those who are searching, and at the end of the day, Megan asked us to teach her.  I ceased to be amazed at the miracles Heavenly Father gives us.  We are SO blessed.
We were able to do lots of service this week! Which is always so great. We volunteered at the nursing home and they had a Red Hat's Society lunch, which we helped with. It was so fun. They have too much fun there, which is good :) We were able to help members with yard work and also help some non-members move! Great opportunity for inviting to learn about the gospel! Which we did, and we were rejected, but it is a-okay. Part of the job description.

Me, Sister Shurtleff, and Sister Turner are just as great as ever.  We don't have any problems together and I just love them! They are both such wonderful people and great examples to me!

This week I have learned the power of following the spirit.  With OYM, in lessons and everywhere. Promptings are SO important! It is everything! It's the Lord telling us what we need to do. I am not good at following the spirit! And I have seen first hand what the effects are if you don't follow it, and if you do.  The effects are significant.  If we don't act on those promptings, how do we expect to help people find the truth in which they are searching for? (D&C 123:12) I have seen such drastic changes in my teaching and myself when I follow them and when I don't follow promptings.  They are oh, so important.

Other than that, it was a great week! This is hard work out here, really hard. I've learned the impact of personal example and personal testimony, how strong that can be. It's giving me confidence in myself that I can make a difference, still working on that, but I’m getting there.  It's crazy how much you grow on your mission. I've learned so much and I’m continuing to learn SO much.

I just miss y'all SO much. I love y'all so much. I don't have much else to say! The days are long but the weeks are short. I came to a realization that I am so blessed to be a missionary. So many people's lives are SO messed up! It’s crazy. I love you guys so much.

Love always,
Sister Burr
