January 19, 2015

Well we had a great week! Not much happened, just Sister Gifford and I get along so great! We honestly constantly laugh! It's the greatest! We met with Amanda twice this week and she's ready for baptism on Jan 31! We're excited for her :) She came to church again and she's making great progress! Kathy and Alex are SO funny! we love going over there and they love the Book of Mormon and the Plan of Salvation! They are so golden and prepared :) We have a great feeling about them!

Our mission president, President Griffin, came to our church yesterday and he and one of his assistants, Elder Russo who I love! He's so awesome! They came and spoke at our church and oh my goodness….They are inspired of God!  They seriously gave the best talks! President Griffin really knows how to grab your attention and hold it, and blow your mind! He is the greatest!

We went over to the RonQuillos, we do every Sunday and it's the best and Dan is SO funny! He's so sassy, and so are Sister Gifford and I, so we had the funnest time yesterday! I just love going over there :) Dan is my favorite person ever.

But all and all it was a great week! I definitely can see the Lord trying to help me become a better person. and blah blah blah all that spiritual stuff! haha I'm in such conflict right now. I want to stay out on my mission forever, but I want to come home at the same time....I love being here in Tennessee and I love the people so much. But I miss and love everyone at home. I hate this...haha. but it's all good!

I miss and love y'all so much! have a great week :)
Love always,
Sister Burr

Oh boy! what a week. well we had a miracle happen this week! We were chastised :) haha. We were seeing this investigator, Kathy, and she had rescheduled with us 3 times and we were going over there last Monday and we had full intentions to be done because she wasn't going to meet with us and we were like okay, we can't see you if you won't see us! And we called her, but she never called us back, so we're like okay, we're just going to show up. and so we finally got to meet with her, and she was explaining how she was so glad we showed up because she was thinking to herself today “you know, I really need to see what these girls are talking about, and listen to what they have to say.  And if you showed up, I would listen, if you didn't, I was done with you guys.” Both of our faces just dropped and we were like well it's a good thing we showed up then! And she is doing great! It's crazy to see how much the Lord trusts us.

Our other investigator, Amanda, finally came to church yesterday!!!!!!!!!! We were sooo happy :) She hasn't come since we've been teaching her in November! and she came :) Great success! We had a great week!
Sister Gifford and I get along sooooo well! We have the best time together! I have seriously been blessed with the best companions! She is such a great missionary! I can't believe how fast the transfer flew by!! Transfers are this Wednesday and I am staying in Bristol for the rest of my mission! Crazy to think this is my last transfer! I has seriously gone by so fast. I can't believe it.

Another exciting thing that happened was that our pipes froze on Saturday morning! it was an adventure! we left our water dripping all night and they still froze, we think our neighbors didn't leave theirs dripping. Oh well! it all worked out :)
What a blessing it is to be a missionary! I love it too much! but like I’ve said, I am excited to come home! Crazy, seriously how time flies.

Darren emailed me and said he's so excited and he knows it will be hard but he's so excited for it :) I’m so proud of him!

I'm doing great, doing fine! I don't need anything!
I love you and miss you so much! 45 days left! haha :) can't wait!
Love always,
Sister Burr
we made orange chicken :)

this is when we went bowling last week! so much fun :)

January 5, 2015

Well this week was good! It was definitely adventurous! We had a fun New Years Eve! haha. So, I ended up losing the phone, and I freaked out because it was almost our curfew...and we didn't know where our phone was so we went on a wild goose chase to find it and we were at the church earlier that night (because we had to stop proselyting at 5) so we just hung out with our district! It was way fun. But anyways, we couldn't find our phone and then we get home and it was on my bed....the whole time...I felt like a loser! hahaha But we were like well, we might as well stay up until midnight! So, it struck midnight, and then I passed out! haha.

But we had a good week. Our investigator, Tammy, was going to drop us, but Sister Gifford was on exchanges with Sister Little (my MTC comp :) ) and I was on exchanges with Sister Crapo again! so much fun!!! But anyways, Tammy was going to drop us and they did a great job at helping her understand things she was ify about. So we're still teaching her and hopefully she'll have a baptismal date soon! She's great.
So funny story: on exchanges, I just continue to prove how awkward I am. So me and Sister Crapo go out to lunch at this pizza place called Stratch Pizza, and we did a trust pizza which means you trust them to put whatever they want on it! So they put apple slices, mandarin oranges, a curry and red sauce, it was actually REALLY good! It was fun! But anyways, so she was explaining that the sodas were $2 for 1 and I was wearing a scarf, and this rather attractive guy working there says, but with a scarf, it's 2 for the price of 1 and I froze. I just stared at him, and I was like....oh....ha....ha...okay. And he was like just kidding and I felt so dumb. hahaha. I don't know how to flirt with anyone obviously...but it's because I’m a missionary and I’m just awkward. oh my goodness, we were dying laughing after. Sister Crapo was like he was totally hitting on you! And I was like yeah and I was so awkward! hahahaha oh my goodness. Story of my life. It was funny :)
Things are going well! I am doing great and I'm anxious because I have such little time left! it's weird to think about coming home! but so exciting at the same time!

So I also tried real sushi this week and it turns out, I don't like sushi as much as I thought...this was like real raw sushi on rice. It was gross. hahaha. but I like sushi rolls :) LOVE sushi rolls.
and we also went bowling last pday :) it was so fun! I love Sister Weight and Sister Gifford :)

I'm doing fine! I am happy, I just can't believe I have 7 weeks left...it's such a weird feeling!
But I don't need anything! I'm good and happy!
I love you and miss you so much!
Love always,
Sister Burr

December 29, 2014

This week was good, not much happened, except it was Christmas!!!!!!! Which was the best day ever :) Except I wasn't home with my family, but it's okay! We went to 4 different members houses to make it just as good :) We went to the Harris', Woods', Youngbloods and RonQuillos! Who are all very special in my heart :) I love them oh so dearly! And it was SO great to talk to my family on Skype, I needed it for sure! They are so wonderful and I love them sooo much!!!

But as far as missionary work...everyone was with their families, and no one wants to see the missionaries :) so it's okay! hahaha, but all and all it was a great week! A great opportunity we have each week on Wednesday nights is that we serve dinner to homeless people at Salvation Army, a distribution to help those who are struggling! And each week we go, and it makes me grateful for what I have in my life and how blessed I am and how much I take for granted ALL the time. As much as I do LOVE being a missionary, I am excited to come home and to start living my life! but while I'm here, I'm going to give all that I can, all of myself, and help those who need the gospel in their life, which is everyone :) haha.

Me and Sister Gifford don't stop laughing. We literally are constantly laughing. It's so much fun. She's such a wonderful missionary already!! And I'm so proud of her! We are so sassy with each other and it's so fun. :) I love her lots!

love you and miss you so much!
love always,
Sister Burr
